Las Leñas is a tourist complex entirely designed for an immersive high-altitude mountain experience in the Mendoza Andes. With 30 slopes, 14 lifts and capacity for over 3,700 guests across 3, 4 and 5-star hotels, it welcomes each season an exclusive segment of high-spending Brazilian visitors, drawn by the quality of snow, gastronomy and the resort’s premium services.
Brazilian tourists travel with Pix. It’s the payment method they use in their daily lives and the one they expect to find available when they travel abroad. For Las Leñas, not having it meant a concrete friction in the guest experience, especially in remote pre-sales, where Brazilian visitors faced limitations when trying to book and pay from their home country before travelling.
On top of that, there was a B2B challenge: Brazilian wholesale agencies and tour operators selling packages to Las Leñas had no efficient way to process cross-border payments between legal entities. An operational friction that limited the wholesale sales channel.
The solution
Las Leñas chose kamiPay as its technology partner to solve both fronts, in collaboration with STG PS S.A., the company responsible for developing and managing all of the resort’s sales systems.
The integration enabled Pix across more than 80 points of sale, including hotels, restaurants, ticket offices, equipment rental and ecommerce, making Las Leñas the first ski resort in the world to offer Pix in a fully integrated way, both online and on-site. Brazilian tourists can now book remotely from Brazil and pay at every point in the resort in reais, exactly as they would at home. The resort receives instant settlement in its preferred currency.
For the B2B channel, kamiPay’s solution enabled direct payment from travel operators in reais, eliminating the long-standing frictions in this segment.
The impact
With this integration, Las Leñas marks a milestone in the global snow tourism industry: the first ski resort in the world to operate with Pix across its entire operation. A step that enhances the Brazilian tourist experience and positions the resort at the technological forefront of the industry.
“We understand that our Brazilian guests value being able to use the same payment methods they use at home. Pix has become the payment standard in Brazil, with over 180 million registered users, and tourists expect to find it available when they travel. Integrating Pix across our entire operation was a natural step to improve the visitor experience and streamline both remote pre-sales and on-site transactions.”
Mike Ferrari, Brand Manager, Valle de Las Leñas
“Las Leñas is setting a precedent in the Argentine tourism industry by adopting Pix. For a premium destination like Las Leñas, which welcomes an exclusive segment of Brazilian visitors every season, offering Pix is not just a competitive advantage — it’s responding to a clear market expectation. We are proud to be the technology partner making this possible.”
